Introduction:

Toyota Motor North America has announced a $3.6 billion investment in its San Antonio plant in Texas to expand vehicle production. The investment includes the establishment of a second vehicle assembly line, strengthening Toyota’s local manufacturing capabilities and production capacity.

The investment will support the expansion of Toyota’s production system in the US and enhance its manufacturing capabilities in Texas.

Production of the Tacoma mid-size pickup will be transferred from Toyota’s Baja California plant in Mexico to the San Antonio facility over approximately four years

The expansion is expected to create more than 2,000 new jobs.

The investment will increase the San Antonio plant’s annual production capacity by approximately 150,000 vehicles.

The new assembly line is scheduled to begin operations in 2030.
