Introduction:
Stellantis announced today plans to invest $13 billion over the next four years to grow its business in the critical United States market and to increase its domestic manufacturing footprint.
Features:
The company will invest over $600 million to reopen the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois, where it will expand production of the Jeep® Cherokee and Jeep Compass for the U.S. market.
An additional investment of nearly $400 million will support the relocation of midsize truck assembly—previously planned for the Belvidere plant—to the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, where it will be produced alongside the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator.
Stellantis will also invest close to $100 million to retool the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan for the production of an all-new range-extended electric vehicle (EV) and a large internal combustion engine SUV, scheduled to begin in 2028.
In Indiana, the company will proceed with previously announced investments in several Kokomo facilities to begin production of the all-new four-cylinder GMET4 EVO engine from 2026.
This initiative represents the largest investment in Stellantis’ 100-year history in the United States. It will support the introduction of five new vehicles across key market segments, the launch of the new four-cylinder engine, and the creation of over 5,000 new jobs in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.
Stellantis plans to introduce 19 refreshed products and upgraded powertrains across all U.S. assembly plants by 2029.
