Introduction:

Global motion technology leader Schaeffler has announced a significant expansion of its U.S. operations with the establishment of a new manufacturing facility dedicated to automotive electric mobility solutions.

Features:

Schaeffler is investing over USD 230 million in a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Dover, Ohio, with plans for further expansions in the state through 2032. As part of a partnership with the State of Ohio and JobsOhio, the company will receive grants and tax credits to support this investment, which will generate 650 new jobs. This expansion will also drive growth at Schaeffler’s existing facility in Wooster, Ohio.

Construction of the new facility is set to begin in mid-2024, with completion projected for the third quarter of 2025. The first phase of the facility will feature approximately 130,000 square feet of advanced manufacturing space dedicated to producing electric mobility solutions for the automotive industry. The site will focus on manufacturing electric axles for light and medium-duty vehicles.

Equipped with Schaeffler-designed tools and technology, the new facility will produce high-performance products for the electric vehicle market. The facility will initially create around 450 jobs by 2032, including positions for manufacturing operators (assembly, welding, and CNC), material handlers, manufacturing leaders, engineers, maintenance technicians, tooling technicians, quality professionals, and other support roles.

Schaeffler is committed to driving innovation and developing future manufacturing talent. The company will collaborate with local technical colleges to build a strong talent pipeline and offer apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship opportunities, contributing to the growth of the electric mobility sector in the community.
