Introduction:
Astemo Americas, Inc. plans to invest more than $112 million to expand hybrid electric-vehicle motor production at its manufacturing plants in Berea, Kentucky.
Features:
The investment will expand Astemo’s Berea facilities in Madison County by adding 114 jobs and nearly 300,000 square feet of production and warehouse space at its Mayde Road plants.
The project is part of a multi-year investment programme expected to create 282 jobs and increase production of hybrid EV powertrain components across Astemo’s Kentucky operations.
Astemo’s Berea facilities manufacture chassis and electric powertrain components, while its Harrodsburg plant produces electric powertrain and engine management systems.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the project highlights the state’s continued leadership in advanced manufacturing and EV operations. He added that the investment reflects another company choosing to reinvest in Kentucky and is expected to create a significant number of new jobs in Madison County.
