Volkswagen Group officially grants UL extended authorization as external testing laboratory

UL's Materials Testing Laboratory in Krefeld, Germany has been accredited as an external laboratory for emission testing in accordance with PV 3942 for validation Volkswagen components. The PV 3942 method tests the emission behavior of parts, components and semi-finished products for vehicle interiors.

The Krefeld Materials Testing Laboratory is already approved by the Volkswagen Group for environmental, mechanical, textile, surface, combustion behavior and fluid resistance tests relating to certain interior and exterior parts and components. .

“The extension of this approval from Volkswagen is for in-room testing to PV 3942, which includes chemical analysis and odor assessments,” said Thomas Wagner , Ph.D., automotive sales manager at of UL's Materials & Supply Chain division. UL continuously strives to expand its approvals for emission testing and other performance testing requirements, in line with testing standards from Volkswagen and other automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
