Volkswagen Group officially extends its approval to UL as an external testing laboratory

UL's specialized laboratory for thermoplastic materials in Krefeld, Germany, has been approved as an external laboratory for emissions testing according to PV 3942 for the purpose of validating complete components of Volkswagen. The PV 3942 test analyzes the emissions of organic compounds that are emitted from parts, components and semi-finished products inside vehicles.

The Krefeld Materials Laboratory is already approved by the Volkswagen Group for climatic, surface, mechanical, flammability, chemical resistance and textile tests for interior and exterior parts and components.

"This Volkswagen expansion is for PV 3942 extraction chamber testing which includes chemical analysis combined with odor evaluation," explained Thomas Wagner , Ph.D., Automotive Business Manager for the Materials and Equipment Division. UL supply chain . "UL is continually expanding its approvals for emissions testing and other performance testing requirements, in line with the testing standards of Volkswagen and other automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)," Wagner added. Homologated test standards can be found on the Volkswagen supplier portal, where UL is listed as an approved laboratory.
