ST suspensions expand its product range for classic Mazda Roadsters: ST XTA coilovers for Mazda MX-5 (NA) and Mazda MX-5 (NB)
19 July 2025
KW automotive has expanded its ST suspensions product range for the Mazda MX-5 (NA), manufactured from 1989 to 1998, and the Mazda MX-5 (NB), manufactured from 1998 to 2005. The ST XTA coilover suspension is now available for these Japanese roadsters, allowing for a stepless lowering of up to 60 millimeters. ST XTA coilovers are made of galvanized steel alloy and feature rebound-adjustable dampers and racing springs. The scope of delivery also includes pre-assembled unibal-bearing aluminum top mounts for the front axle struts. Various spring packages with different spring rates are optionally available for the coilover suspension kit. You can also order the ST XTA coilover suspension with custom lettering and differently colored springs. For more information, visit www.st-suspensions.net
The first two model generations of the Mazda MX-5, also known as the Miata in North America and the Mazda Roadster or Eunos Roadster in Japan, are popular roadsters offered as comparatively inexpensive classic cars. KW automotive is now expanding the product range of its ST suspensions brand with the ST XTA coilover suspension. The ST X suspension has no adjustable dampers, while the ST XA and the ST XTA use tunable dampers for rebound damping. The ST XTA suspension, with its racing springs, is designed to be firmer in damper settings than the ST XA.
The ST XTA coilover suspension also features aluminum top mounts with maintenance-free uniball joints. At the same time, the other ST coilovers available for the Mazda MX-5 (NA) and Mazda MX-5 (NB) are fitted with the original standard strut mounts. With the rebound damping of the XTA coilover suspension, which can be adjusted in 16 click steps, the handling can be adjusted more directly on both Mazda MX-5 models. Lower rebound forces increase ride comfort at slow speeds, while higher rebound forces lead to better feedback in terms of handling. Both Mazda models sit even more firmly on the road with the XTA coilover suspension, reacting more precisely to steering movements and benefiting from increased traction. The XTA coilover suspension surprises with its balanced residual driving comfort compared to the standard suspension.
The continuous adjustment range for lowering the Mazda MX-5 models (NA and NB) is 30 to 60 millimeters on the front and rear axles. Although the lowering range is the same, the ST coilovers for the Mazda MX-5 (NA) manufactured from 1989 to 1998 and the Mazda MX-5 (NB) manufactured from 1998 to 2005 differ in detail at the mounting points. When ordering the order-based coilover suspension, attention must be paid to the exact vehicle type.
Optional ST Customization Program for ST XTA Coilover Suspension
Like all ST coilover springs and coilover kits, the ST XTA suspension is part of the "Make it Yours" program. It can be ordered in 18 different surface colors through specialist dealers or directly from the suspension manufacturer, KW Automotive. Additionally, the springs can be custom-labeled and are available in various spring rates and lengths. ST wheel spacers are also available for both Mazda MX-5 Roadster models.
