Sporty appearance for the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4matic Estate: Adjustable lowering with height-adjustable ST springs

20 August 2024

The wide range of wheel spacers and coilover suspensions from ST Suspensions also includes height-adjustable lowering springs. These springs can continuously lower the current Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Estate (S206), similar to a coilover suspension kit. On both driven axles, the infinitely variable lowering range is 5 to 25 millimeters. The significant advantage is that the AMG Ride Control suspension remains intact, and all adaptive functions harmonize perfectly with the height-adjustable ST springs. Manufactured to order in Germany by KW automotive, these suspension springs are also known as ST coilover springs. Please visit www.st-suspensions.net

With ST height adjustable springs, in combination with the original AMG Ride Control suspension, the current Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Estate (S206) can be continuously lowered. Simply replace the stock springs with the ST suspension springs; a complete coilover conversion for lowering alone is unnecessary. When installing ST coilover springs, ST threaded sleeves are fitted onto the original AMG Ride Control shock absorbers. These solid aluminum sleeves, milled at KW automotive, feature a thread allowing precise millimeter adjustment of the spring plate to the desired lowering. The multi-link rear axle requires a slightly different approach. Only the standard bump stop elements on the adaptive dampers are replaced with ST components. The original Mercedes support bearings remain in place on the front axle. However, no ST threaded sleeve is installed on any rear axle damper. Instead, an ST coilover spring perch on the original attachment point of the OEM springs is used on the rear axle to adjust the lowering.

The ST coil springs have all the necessary mounting accessories, including adapted ST dustcovers and ST elastomer stop elements. During installation, the lowering is adjusted on both driven axles of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Estate (S206) via the coilover spring plates. The parts certificate covers a lowering range of 5 to 25 millimeters on both axles. Due to the shorter spring travel, the spring rate of the ST coilover springs is slightly firmer than the original springs. Nonetheless, even with maximum lowering, good rolling comfort is maintained in the "Comfort Mode" of the AMG Ride Control suspension. When switching to the "Sport" and "Sport+" drive modes, the ST coilover springs fully unleash the potential of the 408 hp Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Estate, particularly in handling. Steering becomes even more direct, and the two-sport characteristics harmonize perfectly with the spring rates.
