Hybrid Accord models (Sport, EX-L, Sport-L and Touring) feature a new 4th generation two-motor hybrid electric system with  a pair of electric motors now mounted side-by-side and a new 2.0-liter Atkinson -cycle four-cylinder that adds direct fuel injection. This new configuration allows the use of a larger drive motor with more torque. Combined system output is 204 hp 2 , while drive motor peak torque is 247 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 15 lb-ft).

The electric hybrid system is also more responsive and significantly more refined at highway speeds. Linear Shift Control enhances the driving experience by mimicking the rev-related feel associated with vehicle speed associated with a conventional throttle gear change.
