KW V3 coilover kit for Toyota GR Yaris facelift model (2025) adapted

6 February 2025

The facelifted Toyota GR Yaris (2025) has been available since April 2024. Sold in Argentina, Australia, Europe, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, and Thailand, the facelifted GR Yaris features between 276 hp in the European market and 300 hp in Japan. Because Toyota built the facelift model with stiffer chassis and redesigned suspension, KW automotive needs to develop a new KW V3 coilover kit for the latest Toyota GR Yaris. The kit from the previous GR Yaris doesn't fit. It differs in springs, top-mount, and piston rod. Like its predecessor, the KW V3 gives the powerful three-door hatchback a sporty harmonic driving behavior with a tight setup that is as necessary and as comfortable as possible. If a stiffer or more comfortable damping setup is desired, the compression and rebound forces can be adjusted, without tools, directly on the stainless-steel damper housings. The road-legal kit offers the exact 25-45 millimeter lowering range as the previous Toyota GR Yaris. While the KW V4 Clubsport coilover kit for the Toyota GR Yaris is still under development, the built-to-order KW V3 coilover kit is already available. The KW Group, with its suspension brands KW suspensions and Reiger Suspension, works closely with the Japanese automaker Toyota in motorsports. In the World Rally-Raid Championship and the World Rally Championship, the Toyota GR DKR Hilux and Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 are equipped with Reiger Offroad suspension. At the same time, the Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo 2 is used in various championships with KW Racing dampers. "Similar to our motorsport suspension for the Supra GT4, the KW V3 coilover suspension for the GR Yaris is also separately adjustable in rebound and compression damping," says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. "However, with the KW Racing suspension, we rely on KW-Solid-Piston dampers, while the KW V3 is built with our KW twin-tube dampers."

Proven KW V3 Technology

Compared to other aftermarket suspensions, the KW V3 offers significantly more advantages in the Toyota GR Yaris than just stainless steel coilover damper housings. Many coilover suspensions do not allow for further damper setup adjustments. If they do, these kits often have a parallel adjustment, where both compression and rebound damping forces can only be adjusted simultaneously. In contrast, the V3 allows for independent and targeted adjustment of the compression and rebound valves, enabling a direct influence on the compression and rebound of the suspension and, thus, on the driving behavior and road handling of the GR Yaris.

The integrated purple adjuster on the stainless-steel housing allows for twelve different compression settings to minimize body roll and dive. A higher compression damping rate at the front axle provides a more direct steering response. At the rear, increased compression damping forces counteract oversteer. Many drivers of vehicles equipped with the KW V3 coilover kit rave about the high level of ride comfort, even at maximum lowering. This is attributed to the suspension's two-stage valve design. Even with the low-speed compression damping fully closed, a preconfigured high-speed compression valve opens when encountering bumps or expansion joints, allowing the wheels to travel and providing damping without sacrificing performance. With our valve technology, we prevent the typical wheel bouncing and body roll that often occurs with poorly tuned suspensions,' explains Florian Johann. Independently, the KW V3 allows for 16-click adjustable rebound damping, providing further influence on the GR Yaris' handling characteristics and ride comfort. A lower rebound force increases ride comfort, while a higher rebound force enhances handling and reduces body roll. This is particularly noticeable at high speeds, where the Toyota features more aggressive steering precision. The rebound valves also feature a two-stage design.

Height adjustment is achieved directly via the dirt-resistant trapezoidal thread on the stainless-steel suspension struts at the front and the rear axle adjustment perch. According to the parts approval, a continuous lowering of 25 to 45 millimeters is adjustable on both axles. More at www.kwsuspensions.net
