KW Motorsport Customer Manthey EMA Wins 2023 DTM Drivers’, Manufacturers’ and Teams’ Championships

25 October 2023

Just three years after the introduction of GT3 racing cars to the DTM, KW automotive customers have won the championship twice with KW V6 Racing dampers. In 2022, Sheldon van der Linde and Schubert Motorsport won the drivers’ and teams’ championships with the BMW M4 GT3. In 2023, Thomas Preining, Porsche, and Manthey EMA celebrated victories in the drivers’, manufacturers’, and teams’ championships. In the young history of GT3 customer racing in the DTM, this marked the first time a driver won both races of a DTM weekend with both pole positions. More at

The suspension manufacturer develops and manufactures its KW Racing dampers and KW Racing suspension kits for customer racing of various automobile manufacturers. Since 2022, KW automotive has also supplied its KW Solid Piston racing dampers to racing cars in the DTM. These KW V6 Racing dampers are homologated worldwide for all BMW M4 GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 R cars. Similar to 2022, when the BMW M4 GT3 won its first championship under competitive conditions and finished the season with a championship with KW V6 Racing dampers, Porsche repeated this feat in 2023 with the new 911 GT3 R of the 992 generation. In the big anniversary year of the sports car manufacturer, which celebrates the 60th birthday of the Porsche 911 in 2023, the victory in the DTM is the proverbial icing on the cake. Thomas Preining’s victory is the first DTM title for sports car manufacturer Porsche.

“The 2023 season was extremely successful for our motorsport customers in the DTM,” said Florian Johann of KW Brand Management. “In 13 of 16 races, our customers finished in the top three with at least one racing car. Of the 28 racing cars in the DTM, we equipped four BMW M4 GT3 and six Porsche 911 GT3 R with our KW V6 Racing dampers.” The developments of the KW automotive group for motorsport are also adapted by the suspension manufacturer for its coilover suspension systems for the aftermarket and accessories market. All KW coilover suspension systems that can be manually adjusted in the damper characteristics are based on their own developments from motorsport. At the KW headquarters in Fichtenberg, Germany, over 40 engineers, designers, and technicians are working on the development of suspensions for selected small series of the automotive industry, motorsport, and the free aftermarket. The suspension manufacturer, which is still active on all world markets and is family-owned, is currently looking for additional engineers, product managers, and development mechanics. More at
