EVgo and Honda Partner to Provide EV Drivers with Direct Access to Public Fast Charging

29 September 2023

EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO), one of the nation's largest public fast charging networks for electric vehicles (EVs), has announced a new collaboration with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. that aims to offer a range of benefits for Honda and Acura EV drivers. These benefits include charging credits, technology integration into the HondaLink and Acura EV apps, and access to EVgo's nationwide charging network and its roaming partners. Drivers of qualifying Honda and Acura EV models will be eligible to receive up to $750 in charging credits for use at EVgo charging stations across the country.

Honda's newest EV models are expected to be released in North America in early 2024, and drivers will have access to more than 900 public fast charging locations within EVgo's nationwide network. These charging stations offer up to 350kW fast chargers, enabling quick charging on the go. Additionally, drivers can access even more fast charging and Level 2 stations through EVgo's roaming partners.

As part of this partnership, EVgo's APIs will be integrated directly into the HondaLink and Acura EV apps through EVgo Inside™. This integration will allow drivers of both brands to register for or link to an existing EVgo account, locate nearby EVgo charging stations, check real-time charger availability, and initiate a charging session—all within one app.

Cathy Zoi, CEO of EVgo, emphasized the importance of convenient and reliable fast charging in accelerating the mass adoption of electric transportation. She expressed excitement about welcoming Honda and Acura EV drivers to the EVgo network, providing them with a seamless customer experience.

Earlier this year, Honda announced plans to incorporate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) into its new EV models starting in 2025. In alignment with this move, EVgo announced that it would add NACS connectors to its fast chargers across the country, ensuring its network's compatibility with a wide range of EV models.
