BYD, the world's leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles will present its new luxury model BYD Seal at India Auto Expo 2023, along with the icon color BYD ATTO 3, a limited edition car in forest green, has been announced. BYD Seal has sold over 50,000 units in China in five months and is planned to be launched in India by Q4 2023. With the All-New e6 and BYD ATTO 3 already available in the Indian market, the BYD Seal will be the third passenger EV to launch in India within the next two years.BYD's exhibition space at Auto Expo 2023 was divided into four zones, showcasing current and new vehicle products as well as technological innovations that significantly enhance vehicle performance and safety. These newly unveiled product and innovation displays echo the exhibition's India-specific theme, 'Innovation for a Better Life'.

BYD SEAL

BYD Seal is one of the latest luxury sedans powered by our proven EV platform (e-Platform 3.0) and innovative, ultra-safe blade battery. It is also equipped with CTB (Cell to Body) technology for the first time, which greatly improves the safety, stability and operability of the vehicle, making the overall performance of the vehicle even better.

The CTB-ready BYD Seal can withstand a rolling test with a 50-ton heavy truck. The integration of the battery and the body has doubled the torsional rigidity of the entire vehicle to more than 40,500 Nm/°. Vehicle interior structures are 50% safer in frontal collisions and 45% safer in side collisions. CTB technology also enables BYD Seal to achieve an ideal 50:50 axle load distribution, thus passing the Moose test at a record speed of 83.5km/h. With a low-floor design, the drag coefficient is only 0.219cd and the BYD Seal can accelerate to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds. This model can travel an ultra-long distance of up to 700km on a single charge, reducing concerns about EV mileage.

BYD ATTO 3 limited edition

The event also showcased a limited version of the BYD ATTO 3 with a special color forest green, a model with e-Platform 3.0 and an ultra-safe blade battery. Only 1,200 units of this limited edition will be sold in India, priced at INR 3,449,000 (ex-showroom price).

The BYD ATTO 3 has an NEDC certified range of 480km and an ARAI test range of 521km. It will be launched in India in November 2022 at Rs 3,399,000, and has received 1,500 reservations so far, with strong customer inquiries. BYD ATTO 3 has received a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, Europe's leading independent safety assessment programme. The E-SUV comes with an 8-year or 160,000km warranty on the battery, whichever comes first, and a similar 8-year or 150,000km warranty on the motor and motor controller. In addition, BYD offers a basic warranty of 6 years or 150,000 km.

BYD has expanded its network to 24 showrooms in 21 cities in India within a year and plans to double its presence to 53 showrooms by 2023. “We plan to sell 15,000 units of BYD ATTO 3 and All-New e6 next year, and we have a long-term vision to capture 40% of the Indian EV market by 2030. It is doing well and we are ready to start the first deliveries from January 2023,” added Gopalakrishnan.

In 2022, BYD's cumulative passenger car sales will exceed 1.86 million units, a year-on-year increase of 155.1%. BYD has sold more than 3.37 million new energy vehicles to date. While expanding its global presence, BYD is working towards its "Cool the Earth by 1°C" initiative.
