High demand for highly durable off-road lights

An off-road vehicle is always put to the test in rugged and rough terrain unsurfaced roads, steep hills, and unsurfaced steep mountain climbs. The customized off-road drives require strong and durable lighting, for which the lighting systems from the off-road vehicle manufacturers are not sufficient. The lighting system for these vehicles should be strong and durable. The LED systems are more durable and do not break due to vibrations as they do not have any filaments. The lights from the leading manufacturer in the LED segment, Rigid Industries are well known for high durability and high quality. These lights can withstand continuous high impacts from a baseball bat and gun shots.

Increasing demand for long lasting off-road lights

The demand for long lasting lighting systems has increased during the past years. The minimum lifespan of halogen lights with high power consumption made the customers switch to effective substitutes. The HDI and LED are the alternatives. The long life and effective power consumptions of these lights, due to the minimal generation of heat increases their lifespan.

The LEDs have an estimated lifespan of 50,000 hours, which is 15 times more than the halogens and seven times more than the xenon lamps. The more durable and flexible lighting systems developed with LED can fuel the growth of off-road lighting market during the forecast period.

Rising preference for energy-efficient off-road automotive lighting

The halogens used for off-road lighting had bright light, but the LED lighting systems can provide the same intensity of light at a lower power consumption from the battery. Moreover, the halogen lamp used in an automobile requires higher power as it dissipates a majority of the energy it receives as heat.

“The LED, on the other hand, produces minimum heat that must be continuously removed from the system. A heat sink is developed for this purpose, and it efficiently removes the heat energy liberated during the lighting of the system. This process of removal of heat from the system is known as heat management of LED system. This makes LED a high power, energy efficient lighting system which is suitable for off-road vehicles,” says Amey.
