HPL Prototypes (HPLP), which develops drivable and non-drivable models for vehicle manufacturers, has agreed to buy 5.5 acres of land at the Redsands site near Crewe. The terms of the deal have been accepted by Cheshire East Council.

Michael Jones, leader of Cheshire East Council, said: "We are delighted that HPLP has identified Cheshire East as the right location to expand.

"They are impressed by the strong competitive advantages and track record of Cheshire East for its skilled workforce, existing business base, entrepreneurial spirit, quality of life and its national, regional and local infrastructure."

HPLP, which is headquartered on Windmill Industrial Estate, will take on more than 70 skilled workers at the site and has said it is also keen to work with local education institutions.

The sale of the land is subject to planning permission and proof of funding.
