The 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2015), with the theme of "Innovation for Upgrading," successfully finished on April 29 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
Auto Shanghai 2015, with a combined show space of over 350,000 square meters, brought together 2,000 Chinese and foreign exhibitors from 18 countries and regions. Up to 1,343 complete vehicles were on display at the event, including 47 concept cars and 103 new energy vehicles, while 109 new models had their world debuts at the event, 44 new models had their debuts in Asia. During Media Days of April 20 and April 21, there were 104 press conferences held by auto makers. In addition to 928,000 total visitor person-times, The show attracted more than 10,000 journalists; 2,150 domestic and foreign news media organizations from 44 countries and regions reporting the event.
This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of Auto Shanghai. Established in 1985, Auto Shanghai is the most historical and professional automobile industry show of China. The exhibition scale of Auto Shanghai grew from 15,000 square meters in 1985 to 350,000 square meters in 2015. Auto Shanghai not only witnessed the changing of time, but also the rise of China's automobile industry during the past 30 years.
Summit Forum focuses on the latest trend of the industry
On April 19, the Organizer held the 4th Auto Shanghai Summit 2015 at the Westin Bund Center Shanghai. With the theme of " Innovation & Integration -- to Create a New Phase for the Intelligent Connected Car Industry," the summit attracted more than 400 attendees, including industry leaders, managers of domestic and foreign auto-makers, experts and scholars as well as representatives from consulates and commercial organizations. The summit focuses on the hottest topic "Internet Plus Automobile" and conveys the message for speeding up the progress of China's automobile intellectualization.
Chinese domestic brands collectively showing increasing global presence
China's domestic auto makers, among them the six major players, FAW, SAIC Group, Dongfeng Motor, Changan Automobile, GAC Group and BAIC Motor, as well as other Chinese brands including Chery, Brilliance Auto, Geely, BYD and Great Wall Motor, gathered at Auto Shanghai 2015. From car design to technical innovation, they have shown great confidence and potentiality as the leading brands of China's automobile market, posing a significant challenge to traditional multinational industry leaders. During the exhibition, executives from European, Japanese and American lineups came to the stage in person to release the new car, which proves China is still quite attractive as the biggest automobile market of the world.
Intelligent connected cars aroused general concern
To face the trend of "Internet Plus," many self-driving cars and intelligent connected cars were splendidly released at the show. SAIC and Alibaba Group, BAIC and Letv, BMW and Baidu have begun working in cooperation with each other. Nowadays, the development of networking technology has huge influence on the traditional car manufacture industry. Among the industry, it has become common sense to apply networking ideas to produce cars.
New energy vehicles caught the eye of visitors
103 new energy vehicles were displayed on the show, declaring the fantastic performance of new energy source technology at Auto Shanghai 2015. As the key point for the transition and upgrading of China's automobile industry, the growth of new energy vehicle market can be easily noticed. Under the progress of marketization, the whole industry will have steady development, and the dream of new energy vehicles will be realized in future.
