Tata Motors owned British iconic luxury sports car maker Jaguar Land Rover on Monday launched a new variant of Jaguar XF sedan in the country to take on German brands such as market leader Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Swedish Volvo in Asia’s third biggest automobile market.
It carries a sticker price tag of Rs 45.12 lakh at showrooms in Mumbai.
With the new executive edition of Jaguar XF 2.2L diesel, the Mumbai-based company has expanded its portfolio to boost its brand appeal in the growing luxury car market in the world’s fifth largest auto market.
Powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine, the new sedan comes with a range of features including eight speed automatic transmission and navigation system.
“We are excited to introduce Jaguar XF 2.2L diesel executive edition, at an attractive price point,” Rohit Suri, vice president at Jaguar Land Rover India, said.
“It will enable us to access a wider audience which consists of discerning and premium Indian customers who have always loved the brand, aspired to own this sedan and be seen in it,” he said. In January, the company had launched a petrol variant of Jaguar XF in the country, priced at Rs 48.3 lakh in Mumbai showrooms.
The new XF executive accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, which is again identical to the regular 2.2 variant.
Changes lie only in the features of the car, some of which have been left out to arrive at this competitive price. For example, the XF Executive’s wing mirrors do without the memory function as does the driver seat which is only 4-way adjustable as compared to the luxury model’s 6-way adjustable seat.
