The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today appointed Shobana Kamineni, Executive vice-Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, as a Director on its board.
"Shobana Kamineni has been appointed as Director on the Board of the company with effect from March 27, 2015 in the category of Non-Executive and Independent Director," the company said in a BSE filing.
Market regulator SEBI has mandated listed companies to appoint at least one woman director on their Board before April 1.
Kamineni heads Apollo Global Projects Consultancy that steers the planning, design and execution of new projects and Apollo Pharmacy, which is group's fastest growing business.
She leads Apollo Hospitals' diversification into several new domains, all of which have been largely responsible for Apollo's emergence as a leading integrated healthcare organisation.
Kamineni, a graduate in economics from Stella Maris College, Chennai also has Diploma in Hospital Administration from Columbia University, New York. She was a national level squash player.
Presently, Hero MotoCorp has 11 members on its Board including Chairman Brijmohan L Munjal and Vice Chairman and Managing Director Pawan Munjal.
It has eight non-executive member including former army chief Gen V P Malik, Dabur Chairman Anand Burman, former SEBI chief M Damodaran.
