German auto component manufacturer Bosch has developed a new light weight lithium ion battery for motorcycles, scooters, quads and jet skis. The battery named as M Lithium weighs one third of the weight of comparable lead-acid batteries, the company said in a press statement.
It also features a deep-cycle resistance which is up to ten times higher than in case of conventional batteries, it is vibration-resistant and can be installed in any position.
The lithium-ion battery maintains its charge up to four times longer. On time for the sales launch, the Bosch M Li-ion battery is available for all common motorised two-wheelers, quads and jet skis on the market.
Using the innovative lithium-ion technology, Bosch will continue to expand its range of starter batteries in future. "Lithium-ion technology is an important and driving technology for electromobility in general," said Uwe Thomas, chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket business division.
