Heat Exchangers
Heat exchangers are devices for transfer of heat from one medium to another. Major function of heat exchangers is to maintain a required temperature in the system without allowing the medium to mix. Heat exchangers usually maximize the transfer of heat by maximizing the contact surface area between fluids, as when the warmer fluid is passed through a series of coils or thin plates. The flow arrangements of heat exchangers are designed to maximize the surface area of the walls between two fluids. Reactor Vessel
Reactor vessel is a device for containing and controlling a chemical reaction. The reactor vessel consists of reactor body and has inlets for reaction zone and bed of catalyst to accelerate the chemical process. There are vertical baffle plates which are arranged in the lower part of reactor vessels and are usually parallel .The outlet is at the opposite end and the gas inlet is also at the lower portion of the reactor vessel. The process is carried by adding reactant to the reactor vessel from top inlet and adding gaseous reactants from the bottom inlet devices arranged in the lower part of reactor and on completion removing the product through another outlet at the bottom. Reactor vessels are provided with single or multiple flow paths for circulating coolant to give cooling to the process which is very useful. The advantage of reactor vessel is that much process can take place in such as gas-liquid reaction with one or more components.
